OnePlus: the CEO confirms the arrival of a smartwatch in 2021
The year is drawing to a close, and after presenting an astonishing concept phone based on the OnePlus 8T, the Chinese manufacturer still has a few surprises in store for us. This time, it is the big boss of the company himself who took the floor on Twitter, to confirm a long-standing rumor: that of an OnePlus smartwatch. After preliminary sketches unveiled in 2016 by Carl Pei, one of the brand’s co-founders now separated from the company, the idea of a connected watch quickly fell into oblivion, before resurfacing this year.
On Twitter, Pete Lau took the floor by formalizing the arrival of a smartwatch at the beginning of next year: “Many of you have said that you want a watch (…) we are making one, which will be released. early next year. Wishes come true ” . Good news for fans of the brand, even if the businessman has so far been very discreet about his new creation. For the moment, we do not know anything about its price, its release date, or even its operating system. Only its design, unveiled four years ago via preliminary sketches, seems to promise a circular dial, far from that of the Apple Watch.
Expected for several years, the OnePlus smartwatch once again proves that the brand, popularized internationally for its high-end smartphones, has more than one string to its bow. In parallel with OnePlus 9, announced for the first half of 2021, the manufacturer has also established itself in the entry-level sector with its Nord smartphones, but also in that of truly wireless headphones with the OnePlus Buds, displayed at a very aggressive price.
